A job applicant tells a potential employer that he or she has a disability. What should the employer do? And just as important, what should the employer not do?

To educate your client, you need to know about the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act, or ADAAA. This law, which went into effect in 2009, updates the original Americans With Disabilities Act (passed in 1990). The ADAAA expanded the definition of disability, allowing more people to qualify than in the past.
