Humana’s 2017 Plan Year Certification Guidance

Important New Certification Guidance for the 2017 Plan Year

As we move towards the 2017 plan year, we want to provide very important guidance around delegated certification, as well as how we will phase out the 2016 initial certification process.

What’s New?
Beginning with the 2017 plan year, agents will have the choice to complete initial MAPD training online without the requirement of attending a face-to-face class to obtain certification. Please note the following impacts:

Friday, June 17, 2016, 5 pm EST – The on-line 2016 Certification materials (MAPD pre-work and PDP Cert) will close for enrollments.

June, 2016 – The 2017 AHIP training is expected to become available to Humana agents (exact date TBD). (2017 AHIP is required for both 2017 Certification and 2017 Recertification)

Friday, July 8, 2016, 5 pm EST – All 2016 Face to face certification classes must be completed, with rosters properly submitted to in order to guarantee Medicare certification for the 2016 plan year.

Important Note on completing 2016 plan year certifications and 2017 plan year recertifications:

Don’t forget that anyone who completes the 2016 plan year certification is required to complete the 2017 Recertification to compliantly sell 2017 plans. If an agent certifies for 2016 by this time, the agent will also need to recertify for the 2017 selling season between July 18 – November 30, 2016.
As always, 2016 AHIP completion and 2016 Humana pre-work is not acceptable for the upcoming 2017 certification plan year. So for those agents who started the 2016 AHIP and/or pre-work, and have not completed their face to face certification on or before July 8, 2016, their pre-work will not count towards 2017 MAPD certification. If they want to certify with Humana they will need to complete the 2017 AHIP and Humana pre-work.

Tuesday, August 2, 2016 12 pm EST – 2017 initial certification MAPD pre-work is scheduled to launch. This will be for both our standard delegated F2F training and the online state-specific certification. (As a reminder, Agents who certify for 2017 on or after August 2, 2016 do not need to Recertify for 2017!)

Important Note on AHIP Fees: For those agents required to pay the AHIP registration fee, the 2017 charge is $125.00, if the training is accessed via the Humana Agent Portal.

August 2, 2016 – After this date, agents who complete the 2017 initial certification are allowed to sell plans with 2016 effective dates through 11/30/2016.

Thursday, August 11, 2016 – The 2017 PDP certification and recertification courses are scheduled to launch.
